Microsoft Office 2019 is around the corner with a bad news. :(

Image
Microsoft has recently announced that Office 2019 is around the corner and will begin the preview in next quarter. But there is a small glitch. Office 2019 will not be hitting to those PCs running earlier than Windows 10. However, there is no news about exact hardware specifications required to run Office 2019. As far as we expect, Office 2019 will only support in Windows 10 versions which are under servicing now. Recently we saw a report which stated Windows 10 eventually became more popular than Windows 7 for the first time and this approach of Microsoft will strengthen the popularity of Windows 10 for sure. Microsoft has also said that office 2019 won’t be arriving with older MSI installer instead it will use the Click-to-Run installer which is commonly used by Office 365. As per Microsoft, Click-to-Run is a Microsoft streaming and virtualization technology that reduces the time that is required to install Office and helps you run multiple versions of Office on the same c...

Enable Samsung Pay in Your Samsung Phone When You buy it from another Country where Samsung Pay is Unavailable.

Image
I write this blog from my own experience. Couple of months back I had bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 from Germany where Samsung Pay is not yet released. (Still Samsung is in discussion with German banks for the collaboration.) and I brought it to India. I was sad that I could not enable Samsung Pay in India even though it was available in India. The reason was Samsung phones will always try to reach the servers for updates in the country where it was sold from. Also in Samsung Apps store, application's descriptions were written German language. I did contact Samsung Germany's support as well as Samsung India's support unfortunately both had left me in darkness. They informed me that I must wait until Samsung Pay is launched in Germany. Once it is launched, my mobile will be able to download and install Samsung Pay from German servers and use it in India. I am not here to complain or blame Samsung support. Instead, I found a simple way to get it work in a country wher...

Bypass UAC Prompt with Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit

Image
In your IT life you might have came across lot of issues with UAC prompt. Most of the times you may have to provide admin privilege to user in order to run just a single application because of UAC. But if we are giving Admin privilege to user, the system might be at huge risk. Sometimes Windows built-in utility RUNAS also will not work because the application requires manual elevation. In this case we can make use of Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit. By doing this we can bypass UAC prompt in almost all applications. First we must download and install this toolkit on user's machine. You can download the Toolkit from this link You can install this application with default behaviour. Once you completed the installation, you will get two main programs. From these two programs you can chose the right executable based on the architecture of the application on which we need to bypass UAC. In this blog I will demonstrate with 32Bit architecture and the OS is Windows 10 P...

PowerShell became Open Source and it is available for Linux and MAC OSX

Image
Good news for all technical guys. Microsoft has made PowerShell available in Linux and MAC operating systems. In more specific powershell is available for Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Cent OS 7 and MAC OSX 10.10.11. Installation procedure is very simple. We all know Mr. Satya Nadella CEO of Microsoft had said that Microsoft Loves Linux. After few days of this prologue Microsoft has made PowerShell open source. This proves Satya Nadella’s words were not just words . From the beginning of testing I could realize Microsoft has done a decent work to make PowerShell work in other operating systems and lot of cmdlets has been included. In future we hope Microsoft will provide us more control over Linux and MAC operating systems through PowerShell and SCCM agent. As of now SCCM agent is available for all operating systems. But we have very less control over Linux and MAC operating systems with SCCM such as hardware and software inventory. There is no way to install applications remotely ...

Microsoft has changed the way of update delivery which they have been following for ages.

Image
Microsoft has changed the way of update delivery for Windows 7 and 8.1. As per the Technet blog below, October 2016 onwards each month Microsoft will release a monthly roll-up for these operating systems and this will be called as cumulative update which is similar to the one we see in Windows 10. https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/windowsitpro/2016/08/15/further-simplifying-servicing-model-for-windows-7-and-windows-8-1/ When we run Windows update in Microsoft’s older operating systems it will download individual update from Microsoft update website and each update will be having different roles. If we could not run the update for 3 or 4 months, we will have to fetch plenty of updates from cloud. If we are performing a fresh install, situation will be even worse. Updates will be hundreds. But this problem has been addressed in Windows 10 since it is launched. Each month Microsoft will release one or two updates. One cumulative update contains all security updates and fixes also...
